We built an application for events for Insect Culture Planning LLC, a company running a variety of insect-themed projects such as stage shows where stag beetles battle each other and insect exhibitions.
Overview
It is a standalone app that composites effects in real time onto the camera feed shown on the stage screen.
We also created a replay feature, a logo animation, and introduction videos for each stag beetle shown before the event starts.
Stage Flow
Stag Beetle Selection Screen
First, the operator selects the stag beetles that will battle
An introduction video for each selected stag beetle appears on the stage screen

Video for the selected matchup is composited automatically in real time
When new species are added, updating the app only requires adding new assets
Battle Screen
During the battle, the app composites effects onto the camera feed.
When the battle ends, it plays a dramatic replay of the finish.
Closing Thoughts
We visited the event ourselves, and it was great to see people far from the stage enjoying the action on the monitors.
