For Insect Culture Planning LLC, a company running a variety of insect-themed projects such as stage shows where stag beetles battle each other and insect exhibitions, we created stag beetle cards that let you interact with stag beetles in AR.
Scanning the QR code on the back of a card opens a web page, and holding the card up to the camera displays a 3D model of the insect created by our team.
Scanning two or more different cards at the same time switches to battle mode, where you can play an original game in which the insects fight each other.
We created everything: the programming, the battle system, the 3D models, and the UI and VFX design.
It is a mind-game battle in which both players choose from three buttons—attack, defend, and charge—and the combination decides who wins.
We aimed for a simple yet deep battle system that adults can enjoy as much as the children who make up most of the event's audience.
