A virtual trophy, redesigned in line with KOKUYO DESIGN AWARD 2022's theme "UNLEARNING," that lets people share their joy even in the remote era. A trophy with 1,031 elements—the same as the total number of entries—is completed once a month, so recipients can enjoy 12 different trophies over the year. After a year of revealing every transformation, the 3D data with an attached NFT is presented to the winners.

We received a request to "create a website that displays a different 3D model every day for 365 days." We began development in January 2022 and, over about two months, shared a prototype with the client every week while refining the overall architecture, the detailed navigation of the site, and its interactions.
We used Next.js (React.js) as the main technology for the website, and Google's model-viewer to display the 3D models.
For quality assurance of the deliverable, we took a somewhat unusual approach on this project.
model-viewer is a sandboxed framework built with Web Components, and the 3D model files it loads keep changing over 365 days. To test whether the trophy would render reliably on end users' devices exactly as the creators intended on every single day of the year, we wrote a program that simulates each of the 365 dates (plus leap day) in a headless browser (playwright) and takes screenshots. At delivery, we inspected every screenshot by eye together with the client, confirming that the virtual trophy's design transforms as intended.
