Commissioned by Nextremer Co., Ltd., a developer of AI dialogue engines, we led development of the AI "Go-chan." project, a collaboration with "Go-chan.", the mascot character of TV Asahi Corporation. Over two years, we built a wide range of features for numerous exhibitions in Japan and abroad.
For our exhibit at SXSW 2018 in Austin, Texas, we developed a system that chatted with visitors and improvised a rap based on the conversation, entertaining a large number of attendees.
That summer, the system was updated further, and at TV Asahi's summer festival event it performed songs with lyrics and music composed in real time for about a month.
In 2019, AI "Go-chan." was permanently installed in the first-floor cafeteria of TV Asahi's headquarters, where it estimated visitors' age and gender from their faces and recommended menu items.
We handled roughly 90% of the requirements definition, design, and implementation for this project.
